A landmark YouGov survey commissioned by the Association of Litigation Funders of Australia (AALF) has revealed overwhelming public support for class actions as a vital tool for justice and corporate accountability in Australia.
A majority of those polled say class actions backed by litigation funders are vital for holding big business and government to account and believe that current rules favour corporations over individuals. It was cited that high legal costs are the biggest barrier to justice in Australia with a majority saying they would oppose any law that restricted individuals and small business from participating in a class action against a large corporation.
