Edward Lam was a founding partner of Somerset Capital Management LLP, an Emerging Markets Investment Manager, from 2007 to 2020. As Head of Research until 2015 he was responsible for driving investment performance across all products and modernising the firm’s investment process and team culture. He also ran c.$3billion worth of assets as the lead manager of the Somerset EM Dividend Growth fund from 2010 to 2020.
In 2022 Edward joined Sloane Robinson LLP as a Partner and Head of Strategy to develop its International and Emerging Markets business.
As a member of Balance’s Advisory Board, Edward contributes his experience of launching and managing funds to help shape management strategy and implement best practice at Balance Legal Capital.
Edward has a particular interest in corporate culture and governance in finance having seen first-hand how the best (and worst) practices can end up determining longer term outcomes.
Balance is a member of the Association of Litigation Funders of England & Wales. Our membership of the ALF requires us to satisfy on an ongoing basis stringent financial and capital adequacy tests and to comply with the ALF Code of Conduct.
Balance is a founding member of ALFA, the Association of Litigation Funders of Australia, and a member of ILFA, the International Legal Finance Association.
