Balance Legal Capital is sponsoring the Ipswich and Suffolk Council for Racial Equality (ISCRE) in their fundraising project ‘Tackling Discrimination in the East’. The project helps people who are the victims of all kinds of unlawful discrimination; with disability, race and pregnancy the most common types of discrimination.

The ISCRE has advised 680 clients since 2013, helping them to win £237,930.58 in compensation and requires sponsorship to bridge a gap between long-term funding provided by the Big Lottery Fund.

CrowdJustice is a crowdfunding platform built specifically for legal cases, like those being pursued by ISCRE, that gives people or organisations the tools to build a community around a case, and gain financial support to help cases get to court. Its aim is to ensure that everyone can have access to the law, and that funding (or lack of it) should not stand in the way.

Robert Rothkopf, Managing Partner of Balance Legal Capital, said “Balance is proud to partner with CrowdJustice to support the impressive work of ISCRE and its TDE Project.  In this era of limited legal aid, pro-bono legal charities such as ISCRE are more important than ever in enabling those lacking their own resources to assert their rights.  We think that all participants in the legal industry, including commercial litigation funders like us, have a role to play in promoting access to justice at the grass roots level.”
