A new chapter – “Arbitration Funding in Singapore” – co-authored by Robert Rothkopf of Balance Legal Capital, has been added to the second edition of the seminal text book – “Singapore International Arbitration: Law & Practice”, published in June 2018 by LexisNexis.

Robert Rothkopf, Balance Legal Capital’s Managing Partner, was pleased to work on this chapter with his former colleagues Alastair Henderson and Gitta Satryani of Herbert Smith Freehills’ Singapore office.  The chapter provides a practical commentary on the legislative landscape applicable to third-party funding in Singapore.

Robert Rothkopf commented: “I was delighted to be asked by David Joseph QC to contribute to what is regarded as the essential text book on international arbitration in Singapore.  No book on international arbitration would be complete without covering third-party funding, particularly so in Singapore where we have seen development of the third-party funding market.  It is also pleasing to see the progress made this September in Singapore in the Triksomel decision by Justice Chua in blessing third-party funding of litigation arising out of insolvency.”
